Check out below the story behind Macs Townhouse
Macs Townhouse was newly refurbed in 2020. It is called Macs Townhouse as it used to be Macs Hotel, which was one of the oldest hotels in Dungarvan. Famously it was burnt out by the Black and Tans in 1921 in retaliation for IRA activity. Here is a link to a recent article about the events from that time.

The restoration of Macs Townhouse took just over 12 months.
Up until the late 00's the building was used as a snooker club, with many a local able to tell tales of great nights playing snooker and cards. Snooker greats such as Alex Higgins and Jimmy White played exhibition matches in the club back in its hayday.
Needless to say without activity in the last 10 years or so, the renovations works required to bring the building back to its former glory were extensive. For any DIY enthusiasts, check out the before and after images.
Walking into Macs on day one, we loved the building, the history and the location. So it was a real labour of love bringing this beautiful old building back to life and ready for guests. We truly hope you have a wonderful stay in it!
